CIRCLE
Knobbed Cylinders 3
Material: Knobbed Cylinders 3
- Beginning: Today we are going to learn to discriminate dimensions by serration through the knobbed cylinders. We are going to work with Block 3;
- Middle: Lay block in front of child. Remove the cylinders working from left to right using the pincer grip to lift out the cylinders. Place in random order on table. When all pieces are out place them back in using the pincer grip;
- End: Invite child to repeat exercise and place it back on shelf.
Sand Paper Letters V
Materials: Sand Paper Letters
- Beginning: Today we are going to learn how to say the sounds of some letters;
- Middle: Take out one sand paper letter using your index and middle finger, trace the letter while saying the phonetic sound at the same time. Repeat. Use the three period lessons to teach the sound of the letters. Follow this exercise directly by letting the child trace the letter in the sand;
- End: Invite child to repeat exercise and place exercise back on shelf.
Sand Tray
Material: Sand Tray
- Beginning: Today we are going to trace our letters in the sand;
- Middle: After the Three Period Lessons for sound use the Sand Tray to trace the letter;
- End: Ask the child to repeat the exercise and then place the work on the shelf where it belongs.

Colour and Trace Letter V
Material: Letter V Template
- Pass out the handout and allow the children to colour the picture of letter V;
- Help them to trace the letter V.
MUSIC & MOVEMENT
Animal Dancing Farm Yard Boogie
What to do:
- Beginning: Today we are going to move around the room to music pretending we are farm animals. You can pick your favourite animal. When the music stops we must stop;
- Middle: Play the music and stop it. Reminding children to stop when the music ends;
- End: Ask children if they have any other ideas on how to move while pretending to be an farm animal. Encourage the children to be different animals.
Sensory Table
Material: Different types and textures of paper with marks made on them for the children to follow.
What to do:
- Let the children experiment with cutting different types of paper;
- Use paper with different types of lines on them;
- Straight hashed lines for fringing, lines that go half way up the page, lines that are curved, zigzaged etcetera.
CULTURE & THEME
Farm Animal Objects and Cards
Material: Animals and Object Cards (pictures of animals)
- Beginning: Today we are going to match our animals to their picture. Place animals away from children;
- Middle: Hold up picture, ask children what it is, pause and wait for them to answer, raise your voice slightly and say “Yes, that’s right it’s a _______”( name card) “Can you find me the ________”( name animal you want) over on the table and match it to the card? Continue until all animals are matched;
- End: After this the children will tidy up. Animals go in basket and cards to be stacked up. Special Needs extension to make it easier for children to tidy up, place a picture of contents on the outside of the basket.
